Moroccan Cooking and Culinary Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech

We start our visit by settling into our hotel and enjoying a traditional Moroccan lunch before heading out to explore the sights of Marrakech including the Bahia Palace built in the 19th century and has some of the most beautiful landscaped garden in Morocco. In the evening we take in the sights and sounds of Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. Here you have the chance to enjoy some of the local specialties including escargot cooked in spices – a popular delicacy for Moroccans.

Day 2: Marrakech

After breakfast we start our first day of cooking with a visit with the chef to the open air markets. Here we pick up all the fresh products for today’s lunch. You will learn how to make a tagine, moroccan salad and other local dishes.

Day 3: Marrakech

Today we visit Ourika on the outskirts of Marrakech. With its beautiful waterfall and river Ourika is a favourite place to escape from city life.

Day 4: Marrakech - Essaouira

On the way to Essaouira we stop at an Argan oil distillery. Not only used in beauty products, argan oil is used by many top chefs in Moroccan cooking. This former Portugese fishing village has grown into a laid back town popular among travellers with art galleries, beautiful beaches and places to eat seafood fresh off the boat that day. Today we visit the fish markets to select our lunch from a variety of fish and seafood caught that day, from there we take it to a local restaurant where it is cooking with fire for the ultimate seafood feast.

Day 5: Essaouira

We explore a Moroccan vineyards where we can sample some Moroccan wine. Winemaking has a long history in Moroccan but came into its own when the french colonised 100 years ago. Les Domaines du Val d’Argan is one of the small vineyards in Morocco but has some fine wine to be enjoyed overlooking the vineyard. In the evening we shop for fresh produce at the markets before returning to our riad to have an evening of preparing a Moroccan feast and entertainment.

Day 6: Essaouira

A free day in Essaouira.

Day 7: Essaouira - Marrakech
